About Robin Williams
Dr. Williams studied at both Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and she completed a residency in General Surgery at Howard University Hospital. Her career has led her to positions at Meharry Medical College, Signature Surgical Group and Tennessee Breast Specialists, now known as Ascension Medical Group- Breast Surgery.
Over the years, Dr. Williams has been an active participant in the life of the Nashville community. She had the distinction of becoming the first African American president of the Nashville Academy of Medicine, the oldest medical society in Tennessee. She was also the inaugural chair of the board for the Medical Foundation of Nashville.
She has also held leadership roles with the Nashville Chapter of the National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer, Tennessee Women in Medicine, Constitution and Bylaws Committee for Tennessee Medical Association and the Clinical Practice Committee for the Association of Women Surgeons.
Dr. Williams has recently moved back to Maryland to be closer to her family. She has joined the faculty of Howard University as a Clinical Associate Professor and the Director of Breast Surgical Oncology. Dr. Williams looks forward to continuing her legacy of community engagement in the DC Metropolitan area.
