About Gal Levy
Dr. Gal Levy comes to Howard University Hospital and the Faculty Practice Plan by way of Texas where she held a practice of both cardiac, thoracic and foregut surgery. She has a passion for minimally invasive surgery and successfully built a Robotic Thoracic and a Robotic Foregut program. She takes pride in working with residents and medical students to shape and mold the physicians and surgeons of the future. As an active member of Women in Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Levy has mentored many women medical students and residents who went on to find successful careers in cardiac and thoracic surgery. She is adept at coronary artery bypass surgery as well as valve repair and replacement surgery. In addition, she has great success with minimally invasive esophageal surgery for patients with chest pain from large hiatal hernias and severe GERD. She also specializes in chest wall reconstruction from trauma to ribs and sternum where she provides surgical relief to chest pain. She brings her unique surgical experience to Howard University community to build and develop a thorough cardiothoracic surgical experience.
Dr. Levy provides a full range of cardiac, thoracic and esophageal procedures. She performs open heart surgery, chest wall reconstruction, cancer surgery in the chest and surgery for reflux and diaphragm hernias. She has a particular interest in surgical treatment of cardiac arrhythmia in addition to standard coronary bypass and valve surgery. Dr. Levy strives to provide patient centered care that meets the unique needs of each patient.
